We follow LEA admissions guidelines. The LEA sets the number of admissions each year, with the approval of the governing body.

Where the number of children applying to start exceeds this limit, places are allocated in accordance with the LEA criteria, as set out in their admissions documents. All admissions to our schools have to be approved by the LEA prior to the child starting. Parents will need to complete a preference form for children seeking entry into reception.

When a child applies to join the school during the year, parents are welcome to come and view our schools and meet with the Executive Headteacher. We will then be able to answer any questions you may have. You will need to make an in-year application.

Starting School

Subject to places being available, children whose fifth birthday falls between 1st September and 31st August in their year of entry will be admitted to Reception at the start of the Autumn Term. 

All of our new starters begin school in the September following their fourth birthday. In the Spring term we begin our transition programme. This includes opportunities for the children to visit school, school staff visiting children in their nursery settings, home visits and parent information evenings. We have a number of transition days in July where all of the children have the opportunity to come to school and experience all aspects of school life. We have found that by investing in the transition process in the Summer term, children are ready and well-prepared to start school in September. 

If your child was born between 1 September 2019 and 31 August 2020 they are due to start school in September 2024.  The primary school application round will open no later than 12 October 2022 and the deadline to apply is 15 January 2024.  The National Offer Day (when Primary school places are allocated) is Monday 16th April 2024.
